Ian Jaye is an artist and designer who possesses a deep passion for integrating traditional and digital art techniques. He attended the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI before relocating to Silicon Valley, where he was immersed in a culture of technological innovation. Today, Ian works out of his studio in North Beach, a San Francisco neighborhood famous for its vibrant community of painters, poets, and musicians.
In his most recent collection, Digital Fields, Ian Jaye blurs the boundaries between natural realism and artificial imagination. By employing both AI and traditional painting methods, he creates vivid images of American landscapes. The scenes are dreamed up by Midjourney, a neural network trained to produce images from written text. Ian then composes these images using digital tools and, finally, translates them onto canvas using his brush.
Ultimately, Ian Jaye’s work is a study of the intersection between reality and simulation, and how they interact to shape our understanding of the world around us.
