LEE SALVADOR and JAM OQUINA

Life in general is something spontaneous, a common occurrence but is dealt differently by anyone, whether by themselves or with someone else, life in general is tackled like a kit that one slowly builds with no actual manual, but is put together using pure instinct and a lot of luck.
This is how life is celebrated and commemorated by these artist couples.
The very foundation of the show is how experiences and family shape the elements and colors to both their canvas and their bonds.
Lee Salvador describes life lately as various experiences juggled, things like health, daily errands and of being a parent, he describes them as something that brings joys and struggles at the same time.
Jam Oquina describes life lately as something expected but still surprising, being a mother will not guarantee that it will always be the same routine for each child, this was proven when she gave birth to twins.
Both artists are very involved with their family, this fact is not only apparent on their showcased works but they really try to involve everyone in their clutch, each piece is both personal in style but executed collaboratively, some elements were made by their kids and some renders were a homage to each member, their canvases are shaped like a house but were painted to exude the feeling of “home.”
Life in general is something spontaneous, it’s inevitable, it’s constant, a lesson that hones one personality and realisations, arguably the other crux of the exhibition and what gave the artist fresh insights and inspired this show.
For Jam, life lately gave a new art style to incorporate for story telling, sharing the experience of having her boys around the house, she also describes her partner as the sun that gives warmth and provides sustenance, her boys are stars that shines on their own along with her as the moon which gives calm at nights.
For Lee, life lately changed his understanding as a painter, before, during his early days he believed that applying paints on different surfaces gives them life, now, he feels that he is the canvas that gets colored by his family giving him life.
This is how the two artist couples celebrate and commemorate life lately.
The foundation of experiences shaped by elements and colors, a sneak peek into their lives as a family in hopes that it connects with us and in turn creates new bonds.
