To love someone is to put yourself in certain peril. Under its influence or may be spell, you surrender. With every moment shared you expose yourself. You open up. You remove the layers that protect what’s left of you. And they get to see who you are. To know who you are. Sometimes even better than you will ever know yourself.
Loving unbinds you, sets you free from everything you have created to protect yourself. Your love gives them the power to destroy you. So destroy it, before they can use it to destroy you.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Manila, TRNZ (Terence) was introduced to art through dubbed Japanese animes airing daily on their local television. After receiving a BFA Major in Advertising, he spent his early years as an art director in TBWA/SMP, a global network advertising agency. In 2017, he drastically shifted directions and started dabbling into painting and gallery exhibitions.
TRNZ’s art revolves around his own created universe of characters. In this brightly-hued universe, he explores various themes that are metaphorical and narrative-based. Like channeling his personal experiences while highlighting the different stages of his upbringing, and how it relates to his present self. From acrylic paintings to playing with various objects, TRNZ’s works jump from one medium to another.
