What if life is nothing but a colossal game of Snakes and Ladder? We move forward in this world, sometimes breaking through barriers; while other times, obstacles pull us down, reminding us of our vulnerabilities. In the exhibit The Depths Are the Greatest of Heights, we confront the unpredictability of success and failure—symbolized by ladders and snakes—and the twisting, uncertain path of our fate.
For artist Pau-Pau, two identities exist within us: one that is exhausted of the external struggles and self-doubt, and another that persists with quiet resilience, moving forward despite it all. Her pieces offer a psychological space to explore this existential crisis, inviting us to look into our own fragilities and how they co-exist with our dreams. Through her works, we come to recognize the delicate yet unyielding spirit that defines what it means to be human.

Real life may be a game, but it is no child’s play. Every once in a while, we get bitten and experience setbacks. But with each failure comes the mindfulness to move forward—the wisdom to know when to take risks and when to hold back. And maybe, just maybe, the deepest falls will teach us the most about what it means to rise.
