Nevermind The Questions There’s No Answer For

Where there are figurations and abstractions, there is also an intersection with magical realism, our curiosities anchored to and converging with reality. Is Jumalon engages in her practice of more unstructured and incidental visual documentation. She photographs the typical and the peculiar and goes further from there. Mirroring her process, characterized by the arbitrary arrangement of elements, the element of discovery plays a crucial role in shaping the entirety. This draws reductions and incorporations, infusing the surface with texture and layered dimensions.
This intentional experimentation is defined by a shift in her chosen medium. She is adapting to and adopting its mechanisms, distinct in its ways.
Navigating through a space of the earthly and the imagined, she departs from the mundane and atmosphere we have come to know. This brings unearthly features into the context of the tangible. Here, the natural world exists in an altered state, seamlessly and sporadically blending the commonplace with fantastical undertones. Yet she establishes them as not so far off from us. Instead, the thinkable and unthinkable—both familiar and recognizable, yet occasionally elusive—are present and intimately connected at this juncture. Take, for instance, the portrayal of species unfurled on the surface, a thicket, a structure. This prompts a question, a pondering on its very existence, if it, at all, exists. When we mull over this uncertainty, we recognize the limits of our understanding. We come to understand the possibilities beyond our current capacity.
To this, we say, nevermind the questions. The answers will remain ambiguous.
