This exhibition is a continuation of Marcushiro’s exploration in abstract forms in exploring materials through assemblage. A transformative evolution in his art practice that started in 2015. This time, he also applies and explore the same methodology in his paintings. Something he hasn’t featured in an exhibition.
TRUST THE PROCESS.
Being always on the lookout for assemblage parts is a huge part of his creative process. It evolved into a habit. The collection of these selected pieces (mostly discarded) were considered for its natural texture, patina and unique character. By other hands, these pieces were used, painted and molded by time it was weathered. These transformative process are what the artist referred to as the “Team”.
The careful archiving of these materials eases the selection of parts that communicates with each other. The connection isn’t always automatic. It involves a lot of twisting, turning and rotating each piece until it lands in that sweet spot it needs to be. Some parts needed trimming for where the artist needed his lines to converge, always being guided by his instincts. This process challenges his creativity in various ways of assembling all tactile pieces and putting together two-dimensional abstract shapes in a single unified work. The work declares itself done after he manages to balance the order and chaos of each assembly and paintings.
