TO HELL WITH YOU

During the year 2020, the world experienced mass trauma from the recent ongoing pandemic. We collectively endured the emotional distress and fear of the unknown. Like any other trauma, it can carry long-lasting effects. As time stood still, each of us went through our very own version of hell- whether it was a physical or an emotional limbo.

Jellyfish Kisses and Tyang Karyel’s friendship can be described as a match made in heaven. Their very first best friend show titled, ‘To Hell With You,’ is a playful recollection of the pair’s voyage to hell. The two artists became good friends a few years back during a time when both were struggling with their dark thoughts. ‘To Hell With You,’ is a visual narrative of two friends at their lowest points presented in a non-linear timeline jumping from past, present, to future. Each work can be seen as a colorful love letter to one another with hints of dark humor and love with a melancholic undertone. No matter how enormous the suffering may be in your own personal hell, a friend’s warm hand holding yours will make things much bearable.
