The law of attraction is supposed to work this way: to obtain something you don’t have, you have to pretend it’s already yours. Action follows the feeling; body follows the mind–but does it? Faux confidence is overrated. Why create an idealized version of yourself when you can seek yourself truthfully, passionately, and profoundly?
Mark Weigh’s exhibit, Feel It Till You Make It, is an invitation to not only sit with your emotions but to immerse yourself in them. In an age where apathy has become a convenient reaction to life’s ups and downs, Weigh’s artworks suggest an alternative: what if you embrace loneliness? What if you announce love? What if, instead of putting your emotions into shelves, you lay all of them out in the sun?
In his art, Weigh displays his ethos: feel all feelings. Sensitive and serious subjects are dressed in soft, pastel colors; with an unexpected vibrance and a touch of humor. The ordinary and mundane are seen with fresh eyes–through a kooky and quirky disposition that flirts with disorder and disarray. Expression is done in its loudest form, emotions brought to light–this is how you make it.
