“Hana wa Saku” (Flowers Will Bloom) is a phrase that symbolizes hope, resilience, and the belief that life and beauty will prevail even in the face of adversity and challenges. While this phrase is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and gained prominence after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, its message of hope and renewal can be applied to various global situations.
The exhibition hopes to connect this message to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, and the situation in Israel. By associating “Hana wa Saku” with these events, the concept serves as a conversation starter, encouraging discussions about the challenges and the need for support, empathy, and cooperation.
Furthermore it aims to inspire and uplift individuals and communities who have been affected by such challenges, reminding people that they can overcome adversity and look forward to better days. The title of each piece is an expression that compounds the message – an invitation to reflect on enduring difficult circumstances and the human capacity to flourish.
